I Built An Indeed For Remote Work, But Chose Not To Launch It

Recruiting Remote Website for Remote Workers and Emploers

About 5 years ago, I started to build a Marketing team for the Koch Auto Group. The focus was to recruit the best talent to take on various roles. At the time, we had limited Human Resources and a competitive local job market. Often the best talent went to larger corporations with more brand affinity, making it difficult to compete.

Frustrated with the local talent pool, I turned to remote recruiting (a new trend in 2016). For me, remote work opened the search from 1 local job market to 10 Canadian Provinces and 50 States in the U.S. In one week we filled the position, and today our Marketing & Technology team is 90% remote, with highly skilled employees in the U.S, Canada, and Asia.

Since the pandemic, remote work has become conventional, and for some industries — the new normal. It’s hard to believe that remote work was considered fringe just a few years ago, but it was.

I was inspired by the success I had with my remote recruiting process and the team we have acquired. I decided to build my own remote recruiting website, so I did…you can explore it at www.recruitingremote.com. In my heart of hearts, I am a builder. I love the process of creating, I love to tinker and explore ideas. I love the reward of seeing an idea germinate and then become tangible and real. Recruitingremote.com was all of that and more.

The launch date for this project was the beginning of 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my full-time job as a Marketing Director has become my top priority. While 2020 ended with great success for Koch, the year truly tested my team, our leadership, and of course me. The pandemic is not over, and I do not know what lies for Koch and my team in 2021, but I know I must remain focused at work. This means I am no longer able to commit the time and resources to RecruitingRemote.com — but I believe the project has potential and is worth pursuing. So I have decided to pass on the torch.

My goal is to transfer ownership to an individual/s with the time and resources to see it through. Recruiting Remote is a turn-key business. The new owner will have very little work to begin operations.

At its most basic, RecruitingRemote.com is a fully developed job board website that is professionally branded and designed. The website caters to SMBs rather than large tech companies. I started the website in 2018 and completed the project in late 2019. The business model is simple and easy to understand. Employers can post a job for free with limited features and visibility, or users can pay for more features and longer visibility. All transactions are completed through Stripe and entered directly into a bank account.

I have listed the project for sale on Flippa, which in itself was a fun learning experience. If you have an interest in this project or know someone who does, I would appreciate the share.

Thanks for reading, and have a Happy New Year,

-Matty ✌️
